Absentee Voting update for US citz
I just received an e-mail from my County Registar of Voters about changes in the qualifying procedure for for Absentee and Military voting. The e-mail releates to Minnesota but it is about a Federal requirement. Specific dates for primaries may differ in your state.
Here is the e-mail: You have received this email because in the past you have voted as a military and/or overseas voter. In October 2009, the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act (MOVE Act) was signed into law. Due to this law, military and overseas voters must now submit a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) each year in which they want to vote, so any applications submitted prior to 2010 are invalid. If an application is received prior to the primary, it will allow you to receive ballots for both the primary and general election of the year in which the application was submitted. Minnesota?s primary is now on the second Tuesday of August each year. Ballots will be mailed/emailed to voters 45 days prior to the primary and 45 days prior to the general election. Please remember, in order to vote each year, you must submit an FPCA in that calendar year prior to the election. To print an FPCA, please visit the following site: http://www.co.ramsey.mn.us/NR/rdonlyres/...stCard.pdf To submit an FPCA, you may mail it or scan/email it to the contact information listed below. [[You'll need to get this from your County registrar ]] |
