RE: Update on buying MX plated cars & MX license
It's not difficult to get an emissions test. Just drive to one of several locations on the outskirts of town, and chances are they'll figure out why you're there even if you don't know enough Spanish to say, "Verificación, por favor." By law, all the stations charge the same amount, which is posted on a prominent sign; I paid 186 pesos last month, though the fee may have risen for 2016. I prefer the smaller, independent shops, because they tend to be faster, but newcomers may have trouble finding them. Some of the car dealerships do the test as well. I know that the Chevrolet and Chrysler agencies do, and I think the Honda dealer also.
