Meeting GTO expats

Hi folks, I just arrived and will be staying here two months. What are the best ways or places to meet expats? Thanks.

I am sure some of the local Expats will chime in with introductions, but I have a couple of suggestions based on my visit some time ago.
Take some spanish classes at the many schools in Guanajuato. Most expats arrive with limited spanish skills and attend those classes.
You might also visit Desmond's Irish Pub on the street between the University and Alohondiga De Granaditas. Desmond could probably introduce you to a few expats. I see that there is now another Irish Pub in Guanajuato, Kilkees Irish Pub. I've been to a couple of Irish Pubs though where no one speaks English. One in Spain even tried to pass off apple cider as Strongbow. Argh!

Ditto on the language classes. We are both taking classes at Plateros and love it, but each school is different and it's worth taking a look at them individually.

One of the things that I personally love about GTO is that the ex-pat community seems to be very dispersed and I haven't found any specific places where ex-pats hang out. I did notice that there is a thread in here about sunday brunch, which is something you might check out.

You might think about volunteering at the English Language Library. I did this last season & doing again this year. Met a number of local Expats this way & made several good friends.
Also Cafe Tal gets a number of Expats as regulars.
