Grandsons to GTO
Seeking ideas for amusing/occupying our two grandboys, ages 11 and 8, on their first visit here next month. Both are athletically focused and highly energetic. Our wonderful history and culture can only go so far for kids, so looking for activities that they can enjoy. Is the "extreme park" at Bicentanario worth a stop? Mil gracias.

http://www.astaug.org/content/centro-recreativo-astaug - I haven't been but from what I can tell it's the university gym there, hoping to make it to the pool one day, maybe next week to check it out. I would call first to check

There is also Splash water park just outside of Leon, I would call first too as I couldn't find much on the web.

La Bufa - hike up to the top (or there are more trails on the north east side of town, don't know the names but I've gotten a taxi there and hiked a bit)

http://ruta-alterna.com/parque-xumu/ - not sure if this is the same as the 'extreme park' but looks really cool

If you visit Leon you can go to Parque Metropolitan and rent MTB and ride around (10km or so), they also have some planes, trains, helicopter to look at in Parque Ecologico

Go on the pipila, mummy museum

Mine tour - http://www.guanajuatocapital.mx/en/?mod=...=minas#_=_

If you are going to San miguel, La gruta is fun for the pools and there is a cool toy museum

Good luck!!

Is the "extreme park" at Bicentanario worth a stop? They have a zip line in one area that should be OK for 8 and 11 yrs olds -may be extra cost so ask at the taquilla [it would be a long walk back if you get there and find out you need an extra ticket. This may not be considered the extreme area. I noticed sort of an ATV/go cart area along side the unused Silao/GM-facing parking lot when I was there last week. Both the Climate Change and the Titanic exhibits are well done and worth visits. Take along your Inapam card and you get in for the kids price.

Note you cannot bring in food or snacks into the park.

see this for info on the area extrema http://pgb.guanajuato.gob.mx/noticia/detalle/30 Only the big zip line is in use now.
The shorter one is pretty tame - my twins used it when they were 21/2yrs old.

At the Bicentennial Park, there's reasonably priced food, don't know about hamburgers though.

FYI Centro Recreativo - the location is not what they have on their website (that would make sense), it is actually on the corner of Cerro de la mojonera and del bosque in Marfil. And they are closed Monday's, went their yesterday to check it out and after a lot of driving we found it and it was closed! Potentially open Sundays though...
