In the Plaza de los angeles: musica folclorica latinoamericana, jazz, etc. Venta de antojitos, bazaar and more. The money collected will go to the families of the killed/ missing students for the needs they have and although you will be having fun will be a meaningful opportunity to show support. Friday the 19th, 4-8pm. (my summary):

"La División de Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades de la UG y la sociedad civil invitan al “Mitote Cultural por Ayotzinapa”, este viernes 19, de las 16 a las 20 horas en la plaza de los ángeles, transcribo: habrá música folclórica latinoamericana, jazz, teatro guiñol, venta de antojitos mexicanos, bazar y más.

El dinero recaudado se enviará a las familias de los desaparecidos, heridos y asesinados de la Escuela Normal Rural "Raúl Isidro Burgos" de Ayotzinapa, que debido a las labores de búsqueda y movilización social que las familias han tenido que emprender, se han encontrado con muchas necesidades (alimento, transporte, sustento para sus familias), ésta es una buena oportunidad para apoyarlos y disfrutar al mismo tiempo. Cada moneda, cada billete son una muestra de que realmente no están solos."

I arrived after 8 but except that there was no longer ponche, the event was still on. At least fifty students were still sitting on the steps listening to poetry by the socially committed Mario Benedetti of Uruguay, Pablo Neruda of Chile, a Mexican woman whose name slid past me, all read with dramatic fervor by shoeless actors backed by violin music. Watch for similar events that show a side of student life you might not otherwise know and a reminder that poetry rules in Mexico, at least in the mind and the heart.
