Wedding Location Recommendations?

Hello All,

My fiance and I are planning on having our wedding in Guanajuato. I was wondering if any of you had recommendations on where to have it. Specifically, we are looking for a courtyard/garden kind of place with around 70 people attending.

Gela and I were married in such a setting, for about the same number of guests, at the Hacienda del Cochero. It's an outdoor setting but has a roof in case of rain. The Hacienda also provided all the tables and chairs we needed; we arranged our own catering. The Hacienda is on the road to Valenciana, located roughly behind the Hotel Villa de la Plata.

An alternative, but much more expensive, is to rent a portion of the gardens at the Ex-Hacienda San Gabriel de Barrera, across from the Hotel Misi?n Guanajuato on the curvas peligrosas.

Just an idea but the jardin de Milagros is a wonderful restaurant with a lovely entry garden space that would work. You might need to work around their serving hours but they have done private events before.

Google "Casa Estrella Valenciana" on line. The place is spectacular and they have recently acquired the next door property, so they could also accomodate overnight up to about 30 people I believe. The owner had her wedding their recently and it was beautiful. It will cost what you might expect of a 5-star B&B in the states, but is well worth it. The staff are amazing and the place is unbelievably beautiful. Good luck!

Two Mexican couples I know recently had upscale weddings. One in the new boutique hotel on the Jardin, the other in the garden of a hotel (tiles in the foyer by Capelo) in Mellado. There were 40-50 people at the second one (not counting the mariachis), don't know about the first. I can find out more if you send me an email.

The wedding in Mellado was between a Gringo who lives here and a Mexican woman. The "Americans" were very pleased with the place. If you can, I think you two should come here to check out the possibilities. Your choice may depend partly on the month.
