swedish meatballs at sm?gen this tuesday

Hello everyone!

Starting on Tuesday (30th of August) we will be introducing a daily special at sm?gen. And first out, by request of the general public, will be swedish meatballs. The daily special will be served during normal lunch hours and starting at 13:00 hrs.

The preliminary menu for the week looks as follows:

Tue 30th: Swedish Meatballs with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy

Wed 31st: "Kalops" (beef and carrot stew) with Potatoes and Pickled Beet Roots

Thu 1st: "Pytt i Panna" (fried meat with diced onions and potatoes)

Pricesof the daily special will vary. For starters, the meatballs will be $60. The regular sm?gen menu will still be available throughout the day, of course.

First of all, I want to say thank you to all of those who stopped by today. For those of you who missed out, my idea is to make meatballs the meal of the day every tuesday, so you will get a second chance.

Now, if you like meatballs you will be thrilled by tomorrow's (wednesday's) dish; the "kalops". This dish is what some would call "slow food" and requires hours in the skillet for preparation, so the number of portions I plan for is all that there will be tomorrow. Make sure to stop by early to get your share.

Oh, I just tried the pickled beet roots and they turned out terrific!

Wednesday, September 7th: "Raggmunkar" - Potato pancake with beef

Thursday, September 8th: "K?ldolmar" - meat wrapped in cabbage with cooked vegetables and a cream sauce

Hello again,

although a little late, here's this weeks' menu.

Tue 13th: Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes and gravy sauce.

Wed 14th: "Sj?mansbiff"; now this is a real macho dish. The name translates to "sailors' beef" and is a beef that is cooked in beer with potatoes and onion.

Thu 15th: "Chile con Carne" - the sm?gen way; probably the only time this year that we will cook with chile at sm?gen, a tribute to the Mexican independence day. This is a ground meat, bean and vegetable stew that will make you sweat a little (every now and then, our chef likes spicy).

Oh, Tano, the newest addition to the sm?gen staff just finished his first week and we are very pleased with him. Feel free to speak to him in english when you visit us. Although his english is not fluent, he is able to communicate comprehensively and he is not afraid of giving speaking english a shot.
