plants from USA

Has anyone driven from USA to MX with plants? I know there are restrictions, but I'm wondering if they actually check? (these are plants native to MX, but I don't know if that matters)

It’s a total crap shoot. My wife lives to garden, so we have made several crossings with plants, etc. from USA.
Seems the gotcha is the soil, not exactly the plant itself. Most Aduana locations also have an agricultural inspector. On one trip We had two large bags of top soil, the aduana officer called over the Ag officer, who said no entry.
All other crossings, 6-8 with potted plants, no problem.
