Advice on scorpions
We have a future guest staying in our home who has two toddler-age kids, and is concerned about scorpions. We've only seen one scorpion in 11 years of owning our home. Does anyone have any experience/ advice we can offer to reassure her?

RE: Advice on scorpions
The scorpions in these part are not much worse than a bee sting. Obviously for some people a bee sting can be pretty bad if allergic. If you have scorpions around you will usually here them at night similar to a cricket but without the pulse. You can buy sprays or powders to put out that will deter them or get a professional to fumigate. I see several a year so if you have seen so few it's probably not a problem

RE: Advice on scorpions
I had a bite once and it was like a mild bee sting.
Keep all clothes and shoes off the floor, especially at night. Same for any cardboard boxes, newspaper and magazines. They like dark places where they can hide. Mexicans put saucers of water on the floor underneath bed posts to prevent them climbing into bedding. |

RE: Advice on scorpions
My best advice for scorpions : Don't walk around barefoot , especially at night. And in the morning, clap your shoes together and shake them out, those little buggers like the cozy confines of shoes. Decades of living in Nevada taught me these lessons. Las Vegas has seen a marked increase of them. Never stung in 30 years.
