is it possible to extend car permit w/o going to the border
Hoping that someone on the list may hold the key to my dilemma...
While I've flown in and out of Guanajuato numerous times in the past 6 months and have an active FM-T, my car has not been state-side and my permit experies next month. I've heard rumors of other options...extension at the airport...in Queretaro...is any of it true? Would love any information that leads to a solution that does not mean a two day drive. Thanks! -Stephanie |

RE: is it possible to extend car permit w/o going to the border
With an FMT, you have no option. You must go to the border. Turn in your permit on the Mexican side, cross the bridge into the States, then return to Mexico for a new FMT and a new permit.
Fact is, you've been violating the rules by leaving your car here while you've flown out and back again. Don't mention your comings and goings to any officials at the aduana, and hope they don't notice that your current FMT doesn't mention your car. Don |
