Allergy meds in mex
Hi. We are moving (back) to GTO this summer. I now use over the counter allergy meds. Specifically Fexofenadine Hydrochloride tablets/180mg -- it is basically the generic equivalent of Allegra.
Does anyone know if I can buy this in the pharmacies in town or do I need to bring it with me? Thanks |

I was sort of hoping to not bring them "just in case". If they have them readily available then it would be one less thing for me to bring. if anyone else knows if it is easily available in GTO I'd appreciate it. Thanks

RE: Allergy meds in mex
Hi, I buy Fexofenadina here (I either got it at ISEEG or Similares, can't remember which). They're made by a Mexican company called Serral, and the ingredients in Spanish are "Clorhidrato de fexofenadina, 180 mg." Sorry, I don't have the box with the price or remember how much they cost, but I don't think they were very expensive. Barbara

Thanks Barbara. That's all I needed to know. They are fairly cheap here so I assume they will be in Mexico as well.

RE: Allergy meds in mex
Both Allegra and a generic equivalent are available here. I paid 252 pesos earlier this year for ten Allegra. The generic equivalent at Farmacia Similares costs 120 pesos. ISSEG may have its own generic.
A helpful website is http://www.farmaciasdesimilares.com.mx. You can enter either the generic or the brand name of a drug and find out if Similares carries it. Also, check out their information on discount days. You can get 25 percent off on Thursdays and some Mondays. They change the scheme every so often, so it's worth checking the website. Don |

RE: Allergy meds in mex
Another possibility is ketotifeno*, 30 tablets/45 pesos at Farmacias Similares. I take 1/day regularly for pollen allergy and 2/day about 2 months of the year. No side effects for me. By the way, this is only available as allergy eyedrops in the US where I doubt the tablets have ever been tested.
* generic name And thanks for the FarmSim link, Don. |
