Hi, my name is Jim Ziemke. I've been coming to Guanajuato since 2008 and I've had a residency visa since 2011. Unfortunately I'm not quite to retirement age so I haven't been able to spend as much time here as I'd like until recently. Let me give a little background... I work as a controls engineer in the automotive industry for a company based in Detroit Michigan. Our company has recently opened an office in Silao (largely a result of my suggestion, encouragement, nagging) and I'm proud to say we have since hired quite a number of young engineers from the local schools - most of which have spent a year or more up in Detroit getting hands on training. That's another story, but suffice it to say that now that the Silao office is up and running it has afforded me the opportunity to spend much more time in Guanajuato. I currently live in San Javier with my soul mate and future husband Vicente (thanks to changes in laws in both countries). We intend to make our life here and I look forward to getting more involved in the community (both Guanajuato in general and the expat community on this website). If you would like to know more or just want to chat, drop me a message here or search for me on Facebook (James Ziemke). Hope to hear from some of you soon!
