PCR lab tests (not rapid antigen tests) for COVID
Anticipating the inevitable Guanajuato arrival and spread of the Omicron variant (highly infectious despite double vaccinations), would anybody like to share their experience of accessing the more accurate PCR lab tests, that are done with the deep nasal swab?
I'm curious to know people's experience with various labs, whether appointments are necessary, cost, time to get results, etc. Thanks! |

RE: PCR lab tests (not rapid antigen tests) for COVID
To partially answer my own question, I've learned that the Lapcic laboratory will do the most accurate, PCR test (with a result in 48-72 hours) for 2,000 pesos. They will also do the less sensitive, rapid antigen test (same-day result) for 850 pesos.
Here is their link: http://www.lapcic.mx/covid-19/ |

RE: PCR lab tests (not rapid antigen tests) for COVID
My daughter used Laboratorio Siena about 2 weeks ago for a PCR test. They came to the house for the swab and promised the results within 24 hours, but in fact did not email the results until about 27 hours later. I think it cost 2100 pesos.

RE: PCR lab tests (not rapid antigen tests) for COVID
Thanks Sue. I phoned Laboratorio Siena in Marfil at 473-102-7354, and confirmed they do the PCR test for 1800 pesos. It's 100 pesos more if you request them to do the swab on a house call.
The website says they report the result in 24 hours, but it appears if might take 30 hours from the time the sample is collected. In any event, this is the most sensitive and accurate test available. |
