New Book involves early 20th Century Guanajuato

"Dr. Garcia returned to Mexico in 1910 after medical school for his residency in Guanajuato under Dr. Levi Salmans at Buen Samaritana at Pardo 8. Dr. Garcia's wife, Eva Carillo y Gallardo, lived during her childhood in the home of Dr. Levi Salmans on Colegio Juarez at 51 Pardo, across from the park on Contador. Dr. Garcia and Dr. Salmans each wrote about their experiences in the area -- including the services performed by local curanderas and the famine that wiped out most of the population in Guanajuato in 1914.when the U.S.-owned mines abruptly shut down. Most of these mines had been owned in part by an Austin, Texas oligarch named Edward House." Brad Rockwell lives in SMA.
