Bringing Pets
Hi all;
We will be bringing down some pets when we move to GTO in June...doing tons of research, getting vaccinations and deworming, and health certificates, etc. Of course, when you check 7 different sources you get 10 pieces of information. We will be driving across the border, and driving to GTO> So......would love to hear your insights, experiences, warnings, etc.... THANKS in advance! Alisa |

RE: Bringing Pets
We recently brought our 2 dogs to GTO, driving over the border at Laredo. A few days before we left our US vet examined them and typed up a health certificate for them both on his headed notepaper, noting all their shots and that they had been treated for internal and external parasites. Nobody asked to see it at the border crossing which I had heard was the norm when driving but we didn't want to take the risk of not having it and then have to find a vet in Laredo to complete one for us! Our US vet was able to access online what the exact requirements for the health certificate were but I'm sorry I don't have that website address but If you would like to see the format of our certificate just send me an email and I'll dig it out and send you a pic of it. The Mexican consulate in Denver advised us that of course all the shots had to be up to date and that the treatment for parasites was very important and that to have the certificate dated as close to your border crossing date as possible. Hope that helps.
