Meeting up with expats

Hola!

We are a Canadian senior couple looking to meet up with fellow expat jubilados(as) in the next few days just before Christmas. This is the first of our exploratory visits to check out if Guanajuato, Queretaro or SMA (or another place) is going to be our winter destination during the cold months at home in Toronto. We spent 2 days in Queretaro (impressive), will be in Guanajuato until the 26th, and heading for SMA for a couple of nights before our flight home next weekend.

Is there a place where expats congregate for coffee, afternoon tea, meals for the holidays? Are there tips/must see/must do you can share with us? We will check out whatever we can in the precious little time we have these next few days. But, I will be back in January or February to do more due diligence, maybe spend a month or more to have a feel for Guanajuato living.

We are staying at an airbnb near the university and have been completely exhausted each time we return from our walking trips to the familiar areas around Teatro Juarez, Mercado Hidalgo, Plaza San Fernando, Reforma, etc.

I can manage with my Spanish and am open to all suggestions from this forum.
