Help us Buy a Burro!!! Assistance 4 a fellow Guanajuatense/ Olegario from Santa Rosa

Hello everyone! I know that a lot of people who use this listserv know Olegario, the older man who sells dirt with his brother on their burros. They live in Santa Rosa but sell dirt in the city center. Recently someone stole their 3 burros. He just bought the 3rd one for 7,000 pesos. They are at a complete loss and now don't even have the ability to continue to sell dirt. They have always been extremely kind to us and I get the feeling every peso they earn is greatly needed for basics like tortillas.

For sure. He visits our home burros attached and we buy his dirt, mostly leaves and sticks, but we like his smile and admire his hard work.

Not to be a wet blanket but what steps are being taken to keep future burros from being stolen?

I want to thank the community for the generosity shown so far. I was hesitant to try to get this going as I wasn't certain of the response. I know that Olegario and his brother will be very grateful for our assistance. Today Jesse and Susan, James Rose and Stephen Lappin were able to help out. We're close to 7,000 pesos to help him replace one of his burros.

Rather than looking for a reason not to help out a fellow member of our community, they have stepped-up. Thank you!
