RE: ATM Card with Chip?
From a trip report elsewhere by my friend Suze.

"Things I learned this trip: that new chip on your BoA debit card does not work in a Mexican ATM(!); Santanders doesn't change money; you can use your Visa card at Ley's grocery store to buy booze and other things, Zumba is alive & well with classes and terrific teachers all around town, you need sunscreen in your face cream, a jean skirt is too warm to wear this time of year."

Please all who can confirm use of an ATM/chip & what banks does it work at Por Favor!!!

RE: ATM Card with Chip?
I haven't had any problems either with debit card or credit card with chip. I use my BOA card at Santander because they have an arrangement and don't charge any fees for using their ATM's.

The cards with chips are more secure and the US is way behind in making them the norm.

The only thing I object to is the 3% international transaction fee that most cards charge, but it is very easy to get cards that waive that.

One thing to watch out for, though. I was issued a new debit card with a chip by TD Canada Trust. I don't withdraw from this particular account all that often, and, when I attempted to do a withdrawal on Friday, I discovered that when they issued the new card, they issued a new PIN number with it. I have no idea what that PIN number is. And, of course, there's no way to get it re-PINned in Mexico.

RE: ATM Card with Chip?
No 3% transaction charge with schwab bank no charges of any kind and as I said they reimburse you any fee any other bank charges you I think etrade and fidelity are the same This trade off works for them because they don't have any Branches one mailing address and everything else electronic If you live down here it's definitely the way to go.
