good advice: Temp residency application in Laredo consulate

Date: 13/09/2015 16:23:39 Subject: [San_Miguel_comentario] TIPS TO GET YOUR TEMPORARY RESIDENCY AT LAREDO MEXICAN CONSULATE/ FINISH PROCESS IN SMA If you are planning to drive or take the bus to Laredo..this is important to have in mind: They open at 8 am…you can arrive any time but not after 11…you can, but not recommended…they might not have enough time to issue your residency. They only give attention to public until 1 pm.. The earliest, the fastest you will be out..but dont have to be there before 8 am..unless you want to wait on line outside, or the same would be to wait on line inside. Bring US cash…36 USD..small bill and if possible, exact change.. They do not accept credit or debit cards…Nor Mx Pesos… Make sure your passport is valid at least for 6 months.. Bring a Passport photo, color, no eyeglasses, no hair on forehead..only front.. Easiest way to get a Residency is by showing income from SS or retirement income.. If you have either or both…Bring only 6 months banks statements…the most recent ones.. HIGH LIGHT the date of the income, the source and the amount, just to make it easier for them so they dont loose time..(your time) to be looking for the income. If you have enough income from SS or retirement..$1, 500 USD for temporary…and you can prove it, they will grant it right away.. If you have less than this amount, you can prove with other income as long as it shows every month and that this amount, added to the SS or retirement income come to the $1, 500 USD. You might not be asked for the SS letter saying how much you are getting for 2015, but I would any way bring it with me…just in case. Make sure that your bank accounts, most probably downloaded from internet, have the logo of the bank, your name and account number. If you do not have retirement income or SS , then you have to prove the income, same one, with 12 bank statements, where it shows you get this amount and the source it comes from…as savings, assets , trusts..etc..if this is the case, either one of these…bring the letter of your bank where you have it and the amount.. Sometimes, they have enough by showing the resume..but I would bring every page of the month statement.. specially where it shows, date, source and amount.. Then, you wait about an hour, you are called to go to the window to pay…$36, cash USD and then wait a little longer until the sticker is issued and pasted on your passport…you also will be called to go to the same window where did the payment.. It is better to have filled up the sheets or form with all your info..but if somehow you dont..ask the policeman at the entrance, to give you one, you can fill it up as you wait on line…or finish to fill it up when your turn comes to submit your passport and the forms.. Dont have to sign it there, you will do it when you have the interview, in front of the officer. make sure you sign as you signed in your passport, so signatures match. When you submit the form, they place it in a plastic bag with your passport in it and a scanned number. They will tell you which window to go to when your name is called..(usually window 1) They will have all your information and handle the plastic bag to the officer.. If all is clear, not too many questions.. If something not clear..then a few questions will be asked..but they dont do too much talking.. The form can be downloaded from internet.. www.sre.gob.mx consulados, and print it and fill it up.. If have any question as what to write on it, feel free to ask me.. use a pen and clear, script letters when you write on it.. any ink..blue or black… You dont have to make a previous appointment as in other Mex consulates..This is Laredo we are talking about. For McAllen Tx, you do need an appointment..and for big cities as well. Those are made also at the same website, not very easy, but still can.. ------------------- Before you get to the US side.. Make sure you return your tourists (now called VISITORS, FMM, document) If driving..stopped at ADUANAS or customs and give back your sticker of the TIP on the windshield, get a receipt of having taken the car out of Mexico. Once you come back into Mexico.. Stop at Immigration/ aduanas building, that is always located as you drive or walk throughout the street lights..red or green.. Declare or nothing to declare.. As you drive through..stop any place you can or are allowed…and walk into the building.. go to immigration office and show passport to officer, OPENED ON THE RESIDENCY STICKER, so you make sure he sees that you have a residency sticker pre authorized visa on it.. Then make sure that in the FMM, little white paper he will handle you , he/she checks the bottom of the card, left side, box that says CANJE and GRANTS YOU ONLY 30 DAYS. he has to stamped the date of your entrance on this little paper. Do not accept one if it says 180 days or checked as visitor or tourist. Keep this card with your passport and keep it safe, you will need it here.. Your passport should also be stamped with the date of entrance.. Once here…go and take the required photos, as mate finished, color, 2 front, 1 right profile, Infantil size and when you have those, you can start the process of getting the laminated card from the immigration office here in SMA. Passport and the FMM document have to be presented on originals. The forms have to be filled up on their website www.inami.gob.mx estancia canje, etc.. Do it asap, since if there is any mistake and you are too near of the 30 days given for this process, there wont be time enough to make corrections |
