Americans for Medicare in Mexico 4 pm, Monday, Aug 30th in San Miguel
![]() Democrats Abroad announces a special Town Hall for seniors on Medicare in Mexico on Monday, August 30th, at 4 pm at the Hotel Real de Minas featuring Paul Crist, AMMAC?s former president and Dr Gallegos, former Director of the Red Cross and currently Coordinator of Health Services for the City of San MiguelMr. Crist will detail the steps being taken to create a Demonstration Project in Mexico to allow seniors to have their healthcare here paid by Medicare. ?The timing has never been better for getting Congress to approve a test project,? said Mr. Crist, ?because of the number of U.S. Seniors living in Mexico and the savings this program would produce.? Dr. Gallegos will speak on the value to San Miguel and the Mexican healthcare industry if Medicare for Americans is available here. ?Our infrastructure will benefit as we upgrade to meet Medicare standards.? Seating for the Town Hall is limited to the first 300 ticket holders. AMMAC requests a 150 peso donation for the event. Tickets are available at the door and advance tickets can be purchased at La Conexion (Aldama), Border Crossings and Solutions. ?In addition to savings, allowing Medicare in Mexico would result in improved health outcomes for seniors living in Mexico, who are likely to access care earlier when symptoms arise, as well as the stimulation of improvements already underway in certain sectors of the Mexican health provider industry.? Paul Crist is Director/Owner of Puerta Vallarta's Hotel Mercurio and served as President until 2009. He has devoted many hundreds of hours to researching and crafting bi-partisan legislation to be presented to the US Congress. AMMAC is a legally constituted Mexican non-profit organization dedicated to bringing Medicare coverage to eligible seniors living in Mexico. Demonstration Projects are the limited-scale experiments that Medicare undertakes to test innovations, aimed at reducing costs, improving health outcomes, increasing Program efficiency, or decreasing bureaucracy and streamlining administration. Medicare Demonstration Projects can only be developed and implemented within the U.S., so Congressional approval is needed. Further information on AMMAC can be found at www.mediacreinMexico.org..
