RE: Looking for ride from Houston or San Antonio
Don, My flight gets in Hobby at 1:30 pm. hope we can do it. Also, if not, can you tell me the best bus service to take. Would it be greyhound or is there a better one. Back in the late 60s, I took a greyhound from Wash DC to Columbus, OH and cockroaches were every where. So I don't have the good rememberance of this ride. Hope there is a better choice. And where would I need to go (taxi) from Hobby. Brenda

RE: Looking for ride from Houston or San Antonio
Brenda its 190 air miles from Hobby to San Antonio. Why not fly Southwest for as low as $88? Or better still try to change your ticket to San Antonio. I wouldn't even want to think of what an airport taxi would cost.*
Bill * Well I did check and you couldn't get very far beyond the Houston city limits for what SW charges to fly http://www.fly2houston.com/houGroundTransportation As far as busses go there should be some Americanos($78 to Leon or Dolores H with several stops) and other transborder lines. (Taxi around $22 to downtown Houston) These busses are mostly used by legal migrant laborers and are not the same standard as the intra-Mexico busses. You could fly from Houston Bush InterContinental to either Brownsville ($53 o/w) or McAllen ($58o/w) then get to the border by cab ($20+) cross over and cab to bus station (50 pesos?) and get the next good bus line to Monterrey and from there get ETN or Primera to Leon and then to GTO - BUT- you still have the Hobby taxi problem in getting to Houston Bush InterContinental and that would be $60. VivaAerobus flys from IAH [not HOU] to Monterrey for around $100 so you still have the Get out of Hobby taxi problem. If you can get out of the tkt and change it to IAH or if Don is going to SAT then change to there you might be better off - you are probably going to have some great travel stories to tell by the time you get here.
