A quick invitation to the opening of my show En Presencia del Silencio' at Casa Cuatro, a series of photographs taken in Joshua Tree National Park, California with an a 4x5 large format analogue camera. The inauguracion is 7pm Wednesday 25th of June 2014. Would love to see you there!!! Kirsten.

PROJECT SINOPSIS:
Kirsten Cunningham is an Australian artist who lives in Guanajuato. Her exposition of photographs titled In the Presence of Silence is an exploration of the anti-thesis of Henry Cartier Bresson’s ‘decisive moment’. To not take a photo in the perfect moment, where all of the elements exist perfectly for only a second, and afterwards disappear, is the aim of the project.

Her test is to work manually with an antique camera utilizing 4x5 large format analogue photography, far outside of the temporality of digital technology. In short, Kirsten wanted to slow down and relearn how to ‘see’.

To take these images, Kirsten lived in the Californian desert in the Joshua Tree National Park where she was happily isolated from the world with the rocks and trees.
