Help: Serious indoor mold problem

I just discovered last week that I have a serious indoor mold problem in a closed off section of the house I rent. If you have any experience with correcting a mold problem, either here or in the US, I'd like to talk to you. Do you know if any branch of the Gto. government (public health?) or the University (chemistry dept?) might have specialists - or at least someone interested - who deal with evaluating and correcting this problem? Sources of HEPA airfilters, dehumidifiers or vacuums?

I've found information from the EPA online to know what needs to be done, and my landlady has agreed to have the work done. I am looking for referrals of any experienced or dependable workers who would carefully follow protocols for containment and cleanup of the mold, to accompany repair of a plumbing leak. Open ground, walls, floors and furnishings of an adjacent room have been contaminated, and it is clear from my reaction that although these spaces are closed off from the rest of the house, spores are wafting through the air.

Peggy, as you probably know mold needs moisture in order to grow. One part of our house is built very close to the hillside and we have a dampness problem and there can be both black mold on the sheetrock and a musty odor as a result. We can't get behind our stone walls to control the dampness oozing from the rock. But there is a way to control the problem even if it can't be solved. There are several moisture absorbing products in the local market. One is called Damp Rid. These are white crystals that you put in sort of a colander that hags over a receiving basket. The crystals absorb the moisture from the air and it drips down into the container. Before setting this up I dried out the space as much as I could by letting an electric space heater run for a few hours. To further control odor after getting the moisture extraction going I use activated charcoal disks. I'll edit this post by tomorrow to add a link to the activated charcoal site - its in the US. I have not been able to find it[in small quantities] here.
