I think you will do fine on $1700 a month. Rent will be you biggest expense but I am sure you will find a place you can afford. We have the Telmex 600 peso package for phone and Internet and it works wonderfully. We have just had an Apple TV system hooked up and the Internet is fine for this system. Start out with a temporary rental and then roam the city and you will find something that suits you and your budget. We are currently building and once done we plan on a budget of $1000 a month.
