Yes, Desmond's is still open. Although not the type of place you will find the jubilados. Its quite a younger crowd.

GTO is not Chapala or Ajijic or SMA where there are regular expat get togethers and hangouts (I think that is why those of us live here like it). While undoubtedly and naturally we gravitate towards each other, the expats do mix with the locals more so than in the other places I mentioned.

And command of Spanish is much more necessary here.
