Millions of us have read his work in I don't know how many languages.
Most recently I found my daughter-in-law reading his collection of stories Strange Pilgrims when I visited her in the US. Thank you, Bob, for letting us know how Gabo is faring. Mexico has been a haven for other important Hispanic writers too. The one who comes to mind is the Argentine poet Juan Gelman, an exile for political reasons. He lived in Mexico City for many years before dying at an advanced age this spring. |
