RE: Driving to Gto.
We have made 15 trips by car; none lately. Leaving via Naco, AZ, or Douglas, AZ, is very hard due to the mountains. Although, we never had problems, it is easy for harm to come from those who might hide in the mountain passages. It is VERY hard to pull a camper there and often road repairs hold you up for hours. Keep in mind that you can NEVER go back without the camper. Anything towed makes the vehicle and the towed item a single unit, well, at least a few weeks ago. All rules are subject to change without notice.

We found that entering via Columbus, NM, much easier, but they may NOT allow a trailer/camper brought in. Hire someone to get that pre-approved. We have had it go both ways at that check-point.

Texas entries can be difficult, again with a trailer/camper. It's all about $$$. The inspectors (aduana) want $$.

Our last trip was in February to McAllen, Texas. We had no problems with safety. Stay off "side-roads." Take the toll roads (not the libre), they are less likely to have roadblocks. Do not be afraid of soldiers/army - they are typically kind.

Homeschooling is not a part of the culture. Many kids in our rural areas drop out of school by 5th grade; there are Montessori, Waldorf, and other private options.

Very few things are "organized" in Mexico, but there are many places to play soccer. Children are brought up to be self-reliant.

As a teacher, I can assure you that your 10, 8, & 5 year old off-spring will see another side of life that will be a priceless gift you are giving them.

Good luck!
