Funny as it may seem, that actually may be what more of us need than we are willing to admit. I know when I first was trying to come up with a plan to escape the US many years ago, my mind was reeling ..... could I use my SCUBA training to find work .... or could I be an English teacher. Then a friend shared a ton of material for her role of English as a second language teacher and at that point I realized I can't teach English - because I no longer know it. I can't even pick out my own split infinitives unless they slap me in the face. And I won't even tell you what comes to mind when I speak of a dangling participle :-)

And if that doesn't wake anyone up about how much they forgot, just wait till you attempt to learn Spanish and almost every reference is to some relative English part of speech. You start in on your Spanish and the teacher says, this will be easy because the prederiate demonstroive pronouns are used in Spanish just as they are in English (to which I am thinking to myself no s$%^!!! Sherlock,,,, you don't say!!) :-)
