Guanajuato, the core city and adjacent communities is actually quite small. When you get 15-20 minutes away br car you are probably looking at semi rural pueblos and should be prepared for a very different style of life than most expats have experienced. Not trying to discourage you as those areas are beautiful, basic and far far less expensive.
A few come to mind: Santa Theresa, Cuevas, Sauceda, Caldarones, El Cubo.
If however your 15-20 minutes is by walking, then you easily remain within the principal urban area and surrounding residential areas. More amenities, more expensive.
