Looking to Connect - Rooneys - 03-06-2020
Hola. We Rooneys have been here for a month, and we are all settled now. Our kids are in school, we are working on our Spanish, and we are seeking more of a daily rhythm. We are going to be here at least another three months - hopefully more. We just love it here.
So, the honeymoon phase is over. :-/ This means that one begins to notice things that one doesn't when one is falling in love with a city. Things like a lack of close community and how much one misses home (even when home is rainy Portland). This is hitting my wife and 14-year-old daughter the hardest. Although we find that folks here are super friendly, we somehow feel strangely isolated.
SO. Any suggestions on how we can meet and make new friends? Upcoming events? Are there many teenage English speaking girls in town? Any women looking for a super interesting female conversation partner to meet for coffee? I realize three months is not a long time, but when you are homesick, it can be torture ;-)
