Best Mexican Restaurants in GTO - James Doran - 12-18-2019
I imagine this has been asked and answered many times.
We would like to find the very best Mexican Restaurants in Guanajuato that have indoor seating in a nice spot. We like all of the more casual places but are looking to find a few places where we can dress up and really have wonderful food, even if it costs a little more.

Amaxti is a personal favorite. Adjacent to Palacio Gobierno in La Presa colonia.

If you're a meat lover, I'm partial to Asador de Vaca de Argentina (get the Tapa de Ribeye). Dressing up isn't absolutely necessary, but as a fair number of business and professionals seem to gravitate there, you won't feel out of place in a suit or dress. Prices are relatively high for Guanajuato.

Well they're certainly still selling stogies at the front desk, however we've generally been fairly lucky on our visits, and I certainly wouldn't have any problem asking to be moved if someone nearby fired up...

Los Mercedes in San Javier very nice place great food. I think the best steak i have had is at costal at casa quatro a fairly new place great service also great pulpo tacos

Los Campos, then Casa Valadéz, then México Lindo y Sabroso. Consistently good cooking and almost
always all the menu items are available.

Ok. We have tried many of these out and others.
Now we are looking for the local Mexican family restaurants, like what the local Mexicans would go to. Maybe they are out of town a little bit.
Any ideas for those?
I found one in Tlaquepaque, Merenquetengues 3 blocks up and 3 blocks over from Rosa Morada Hotel, another "find".
