USA taxes - Ann001 - 09-24-2018 Can anyone recommend an English speaking tax advisor? I'm not 100% clear on how to pay my income taxes. I don't have anything complicated, but could use a little guidance. I'm not even in GTO yet, but hoping to be within the next couple months. Thanks, Ann RE: USA taxes - Victor David - 09-24-2018 I've been in Guanajuato for years and I use Turbo Tax. It's real simple because it asks you questions like "Do you own a home?" and then goes down a path if you answer yes, etc. Meanwhile, it's filling out the forms behind the scenes. When you're all done, it will send your return to the IRS electronically. Might be worth a look. It costs around $100 I think. RE: USA taxes - DML - 09-24-2018 This blog post is about this topic and has useful information: https://www.cheapestdestinationsblog.com/2018/06/20/what-do-americans-do-about-taxes-when-they-live-abroad/ RE: USA taxes - Ann001 - 09-26-2018 Thanks to both of you. I used Turbo Tax last year but I thought it wouldn't be suitable for expat taxes. I will probably use that Expat Taxes company--looks like it works basically like Turbo Tax, but geared toward expats--and it has good reviews! |
