Life In Guanajuato - James Doran - 02-25-2018 Hello all: I cam edown to Guanajuato this past January and literally fell in love with the place and the people. I even met up with three realtors to look for a home. I have a private sale possibility, too. All signs point towards "Yes for GTO". However, I thought I might as some of you for your input on two questions. First, are there any serious snags about buying a home if you do it carefully and with the right Notario Publico? Second, is GTO enough of a City to keep a person interested and active and socialized with local people and gringos for many years? I am expecting to begin to stay there three or four months during our Nordic Winter and probably get to half time here and half time there. I already speak enough Spanish to feel comfortable in superficial situations. I love the friendliness of the people and La Cuidad es la joya ende toto de Mexico. Mi opinion. Que piensa, usted? There are options for activities nearly every day here. RE: Life In Guanajuato - Barbara - 02-28-2018 Hi James, I've been living here full-time since 1991, worked full time for 24 of those years, and have been happily retired for over 2 years. Now that I'm retired I have even more time to enjoy this city and travel within Mexico. I know several friends, including me, who bought homes without any problems. I believe that the more Spanish you learn, the more you will fit in, feel like a part of the city, make Mexican friends, and enjoy living here. If you use Facebook, check out the Guan What page I started where we list all (well, we try to list them all) the cultural and academic events happening here. With all of these things to do, in addition to about a dozen other local festivals during the year, you'll never be bored! Saludos, Barbara https://www.facebook.com/groups/1587748181247376/ |
