Hello,
I remember on the main street of Santa Rosa there is a place that sells firewood. I bought some years ago a 1 peso per kilo.
As for fireplaces, have a look at Rumford.com
In Technical details, you'll find the measurements you need to build a fireplace. There's also a Rumford fireplace article on Wikipedia.
