buying a cellphone--help! - Sue100 - 12-01-2017
I am here for 2 months and have been using my unlocked Canadian android phone with a Telcel SIM card. My phone just died and I need to replace it quickly. I was looking at the Telcel website and I see some fairly inexpensive phones that say "en Amigo kit" next to the price.

I don't know what this means. Does it mean that I have to buy a plan in order to get the phone for that price?
Also, the phone I would prefer (Galaxy S6) seems to be out of stock online, and who knows if they will have it at the Centro de Atencion Telcel when I go there.
Another question . . . if I buy a phone that is locked to Telcel, will I be able to unlock it to use when I am back in Canada?
Appreciate any info that anyone can provide.

See if Bodega Aurrera has what you're looking for. All of the phones they sell are unlocked.
