Passing of Dr. John Held (1942-2017) - jesm - 06-09-2017
One of Guanajuato's best friends, John Held, Ph.D, died from pancreatic cancer earlier this week at his home in Black River Falls, Wisconsin.
A regular and frequent visitor, John together with his vibrant wife Yadie, a native of Veracruz, would enjoy extended stays at Bill Byrnes apartment compound. His big laugh and tales from a life lived to the maximum made his company a treasure and his generosity for those less fortunate brought smiles to many locals, young and old.
With only weeks to live he made a farewell visit to this special place he so dearly loved. He told friends that with a final view of the Jardin life was complete and he was fully at peace.
Rest in Peace big John. You are one of our best.

[It was an honor to have known Big John and be his friend over the last decade. Missed will be his hearty laughter, tales of the Wisconsin woods, deer jerky, Windsor Canadian [in the lightweight plastic bottle] and not to be forgotten his dog named "Dog".
