In town for a few weeks, a couple questions? - thatjackelliott - 01-13-2017

Hi, we're Jack and Jacquie Elliott from Bend, Oregon, where the snow is so heavy that roofs are literally collapsing. But that's there, and we're here. We have a couple of questions:

We ordered a thingy from Amazon Global to be delivered to our address here on Callejon Calvaria. Of course, there is no front porch or any place for the nice delivery person to leave the package. I'm guessing they might put a slip of paper through the door with information on where to fetch the package. That's my working theory anyway. How close am I? Jacquie and I have money riding on this one.

Does anyone know when the symphony concerts start? I've gotten a couple of conflicting opinions.

Okay, one more question: How does one find out about houses for sale in Zona Centra?

We've met some lovely people here, and hope to meet more.

I cannot answer your Amazon or Symphony questions. But for real estate Gerardo Araujo at Casa Solaris is a great agent.

1. I just got something from Amazon. It was shipped by DHL, and I ended up picking it up at the DHL office near the Plaza de la Paz. That's what usually happens for DHL shipments. The best thing to do is go to http://www.dhl.com.mx/ , and enter the waybill number, so that you can find out where your package is.

2. The symphony concerts start again on Jan. 20.

MarionP and Roberb7, thanks!

There usually a large poster/banner listing the concert & other event schedules on The Jardin almost directly in front of Starbucks.
That's where the poster is located there not where the concerts are held

For real estate, I'd highly recommend Robert Fullerton from Destination Guanajuato. He was superb in negotiating our purchase of a lot and in the management of our building project. He is experienced in building from ground up, remodels and additions. He has architects, builders and sources for material purchases. He manages the project from purchase to completion. It is a great experience! Consider him if you might like the challenge of a remodel of an existing home!

Nice photo, Mikel1! For some reason this forum is not emailing me when someone replies to this thread, so a belated thanks for the tip.

Followup question to my Amazon Global question.

I was able to reroute the DHL package using their website to arrange to pick up the item at the DHL office. Worked like a charm.

A second package is on its way, and Amazon Global, in their wisdom, selected UPS as the freight carrier. There doesn't seem to be a way to reroute that package. It is addressed to the casa we are renting, which has no safe place to leave it. So, any ideas what UPS might do?

This is me again, answering my own question again.

I strolled up our callejon only to find a nice man in a brown UPS uniform preparing a sticky note to put on our door. We exchanged pleasantries, I signed for the parcel, and he went on his way.

So, they stick a note on your door. Unless you happen upon them just as they are readying the note.
