can somone recommend a good gym that has a couple of good spin bikes,and a decent amount of machines?....

Gyms in centro lack cardio equipment and the weight machines and are generally old but doable. Not a lot of variety though. There are various spin classes around...one across from VIPS.
if you want a full service gym you should check Marfil (I have never been to the gyms there) or the big one out by Universidad de Santa fe, which is well outside of centro.

The gym across from VIPs is basically a spin class with dozens of units packed in the small room. They also give a decent massage in a most lovely setting but zero English spoken by the Masseuse.

I just found out a new gym is opening in centro...Friday night at 6pm next to Peter's Pizza off of baratillo. I'll report back and let you know what it is like...or come by if you can

The Deportivo Nieto Piña has "spin" machines, and they also have Zumba sessions. It's at Calle Ashland and Panoramica.

The spin classes across from VIPS is gone or moved Nice pool on the way to the Valenciana at the deportivo. When you sign up they will tell you to go get a doctors approval

Yeah, that place by VIPS didn't last very long.
The pool on the way to Valenciana is a U. of Guanajuato facility; looks impressive from the outside.
I learned just today that there is also a pool, open to the general public, at the Preparatoria.

It is not run by UGTO but is a state sports facility under the administration of CODE http://www.codegto.gob.mx/?page_id=2271
The "doctor exam" referred to in another post is actually done on site by a resident nurse and costs 30 pesos. It only seems necessary if one enrols in a programmed class session. In purchasing Bonos de Nadar [day pass booklets] it, in my experience , has not been required.

Could anyone give me more information on the Prepartario? I'm not familiar with it, but am interested in accessing the pool.
