200th anniversary of Victorian novelist Anthony Trollope's birthday and the ELL - Doyle Phillips - 02-05-2015 http://www.broadwayworld.com/los-angeles/article/Playwright-Henry-Ong-Set-for-Trollope-Societys-GREAT-BARSET-BALLOONATHON-27-20150204 "The Trollope Society's mission is to promote the works of Anthony Trollope, one of the most successful, prolific and respected English novelists of the Victorian era. A contemporary of Charles Dickens and beloved for his subtle delineation of human character and middle class mores, Anthony Trollope penned 47 novels, three times as many as Dickens. His best-known works include Barcester Towers, one of several in the Chronicles of Barsetshire series revolving around life in the imaginary county of Barsetshire; He Knew He Was Right; and The Way We Live Now. Noted fans have included Sir Alec Guinness (who never traveled without a Trollope novel); former British Prime Ministers Harold Macmillan and Sir John Major; economist John Kenneth Galbraith; and American novelists Sue Grafton and Dominick Dunne." Now reading the 24th of Trollope's 47 novels and so i am a happy fan announcing that the English Language Library has several books by him. And I have a few more to donate. --doyle |
