Water softening salt? - jesm - 11-07-2014 Has anyone seen bags of salt, suitable for use in a softener, for sale? Thanks. RE: Water softening salt? - cam00 - 11-09-2014 How much salt, what KIND of salt (like sodium based or potassium based) and any other kind of information. My understanding of a water softening unit is that it uses an ION-EXCHANGE RESIN to transfer ions of metallic minerals to ions from the SALT and remove water hardening materials. But, I don't know how much you need or what are the parameters of the salt. I would presum NaCl, regular table salt, and in the most natural form, un-iodized and non-purified, would be my guess. RE: Water softening salt? - jesm - 11-10-2014 Yes, to all. The key is it is simple salt but sold in larger bags, ie 10kg, for periodic quantity filling of the softener unit. No chemistry required, if one has seen it available please share. Our unit was made in GDLA and performs great, dish spots and fixture deposits are gone. RE: Water softening salt? - cam00 - 11-10-2014 Jesm, You'll probably have to go to HOME DEPOT in LEON for big bags of water softening salt. As for your other post regarding water softening, the only other technology I know of that can and will remove minerals......is RO, or reverse osmosis, which wastes a lot of water and is impractical for whole house use. RE: Water softening salt? - jesm - 11-16-2014 http://firessa.com In case anyone needs any type of water purification or treatment systems. This company in Guadalajara has good quality and decent prices. English spoken by sales engineers. We have installed their softening system and UV disinfection package with good results. |
