Los Campos is moving - Mykul - 03-30-2014 Hello everyone, I wanted to post and let you know that Los Campos is closed at the moment and will have a new home immediately. I also wanted to let everyone know exactly why before any unnecessary rumors start flying. After 6 months of struggling with paperwork to try and license our business and get a liquor license we were asked to a meeting with the director of fiscal at the municipal level. He told us quite plainly that the woman we signed a lease agreement with was not the rightful administrator of the estate, her sister is. The family is fighting over what to do with their grandparents house and Monica had just taken it upon herself to rent it to us without permission. We contacted her regarding the issue and her offered solution was to write a fake contract and forge her sisters signature to present to the municipality. We wanted no part of it so we decided to move on. We will be relocating to Plaza Baratillo where Cocina Bella used to be. We hope to be open by Friday March 4th and a liquor license should not be far behind. We also have a lawyer involved to try and recoup our deposit and some of our investment in the space on Alonso. Your support has been key in keeping us going this long and we hope to see you all in our new home. Feel free to contact us directly with any questions. Regards, Michael & Rocio Los Campos Restaurante RE: Los Campos is moving - philyrossy - 03-30-2014 Thanks, Mykul, for the "straight up". Sadly, you have begun experiencing the "real" Mexico. The more trusting we want to be, the more we seem to be taken advantage of. :( Best wishes ! RE: Los Campos is moving - colleen - 03-31-2014 Thanks for giving us all the info. So sorry to hear about this. The same thing happened to Capi and Amparo who have La Bohemia in Union Jardin. This place has worked out well for them. They were also on Alonso and after putting in a bathroom and new kitchen, found out the person they rented from wasn't the owner. Nice to be a property owner in MX. I really liked your place on Alonso and am sorry you have to move. I'll find you in Baratillo. RE: Los Campos is moving -reopening APRIL 4 - raquelita - 03-31-2014 Lots of luck, Mykul with getting part of your investment back. I think you are moving to a very pleasant, well-located space. Jorge Ibarguentoitia could have made a story of this. As Colleen says, it's nothing new (but of course painful). RE: Los Campos is moving - Peter - 04-02-2014 It's a shame that you've had to go through this nonsense, but let's hope it's just a bump on the road. Best of luck in your new and better location in the Baratillo. We look forward to enjoying more of your excellent food. RE: Los Campos is moving - Mykul - 04-05-2014 Thank you all for the kind words and support. It has certainly been a bit of a rough start for our small business. That being said we are excited to begin again. We reopen this evening at our new place in Baratillo! RE: Los Campos is moving - jesm - 04-06-2014 Please update your days and hours of service at the new location. Thanks. RE: Los Campos is moving - Mykul - 04-06-2014 Same hours and same days. Tuesday - Fridays 1 pm to 10 pm Saturdays - Sundays 3 pm to 10 pm Mondays - Closed Menu del Dia Tuesday to Friday 70 pesos RE: Los Campos is moving - SarahW - 05-03-2014 We went to Los Campos last night and had a wonderful time. The food was delicious and Michael and his wife are a lovely addition to our community. We would highly recommend! RE: Los Campos is moving - NanN - 05-08-2014 Ah Mykul the stories I could tell after 14 years running a business in Mexico everything from what you went through to needing to change all of my signage to get a credit card machine because it wasn't quite dull and boring enough to suit the bank. You did the right thing, stay positive and move on. At least you had a contract so you have some hope of getting your deposit back. I found just the threat of the Ministerio Publico got me my money back in that situation. But don't spend too much time on it because if it doesn't go easy at first the bureaucracy at some point can just become too much bother with since time is money. I've heard such good things about your place I'll be sure to check you out when I can get back down there in September. Unfortunately we left before you opened and I couldn't make it anywhere at Christmas it was too cold and wet. |
