newbie questions about Mexican cell phone - elrodalta - 10-06-2013
I just bought a Mexican cell phone with a pay-as-you-go plan from Telcel. How do I register my phone? I think that I cannot use the voicemail services to record an outgoing message until I register the phone. I tried using the menu on the phone to get to voicemail. The first message I hear I cannot quite make out but I think it is telling me that my number is not valid and I need to register the phone.
I also tried following the prompt to enter my number and the # key, but then I get a message saying the number isn't valid.
I'm not even sure if the phone will work until I register it, so I tried calling the phone from Skype to test it, but I couldn't get the call to work.

As it turns out, I asked our Mexican property manager to help me register the phone and to activate the voice mail. Also I had the phone number wrong by one digit so that explains why I couldn't even call the phone!
