Guanajuato?s rainy season is actually fallout from the Gulf Hurricane season. Our heavy rains over the past two weeks are from Hurricane Alex which made land fall in Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon on June 30th. There is serious flooding along the Rio Bravo del Norte [Rio Grande] and help is needed.
Donations can be made via a Cruz Roja account dedicated to Hurac?n Alex relief :

The local Cruz Roja also takes donations of used clothing and other items. You can drop off donations at the information kiosk in front of Commercial Mexicana.

SEDESOL ( the Mexican Federal Secretariat of Social Development ) has set up a Centro de Acopio [CollectionPoint] in the MEGA. On the flyer below are the items being sought. You can purchase some as you shop [lots of 3x2 sales going on now] and then after you check out you can drop off your donations at the SEDESOL table on the way to the exit.
