dog on bus? - KathrynW - 08-10-2013

Is it permissible to take a small dog on a leash on the city buses?

I take my bus on the bus all the time he is small enough to carry but not a tiny dog if you can rap him in a towel might be best

Are you saying it is not permissible, but enforcement is arbitrary?

Or, do you not know, and are taking precautions, just in case it is not permissible?

I've seen many small dogs on the bus, if it's small I doubt you'd ever have a problem on the GTO city busses. Just yesterday I couldn't resist the urge to ask a lady sitting behind me if I could hold one of her two schnauzer puppies. I was on the bus once when a man brought on a doberman, but I think he was friends witht he bus driver, as they were pretty chatty.

Thank you, One less thing on a long list of things to worry about. Ethyl Mertz will enjoy gadding about town meeting you all. She loves everybody! Beware, she French kisses!
Got vaccines all up to date. Will get health certificate on the way out of town.

It's best to carry the dog in your arms or in a bag instead of just on a leash.. I have never had a problem on the city buses, but have been refused passage on some intercity buses. I try not to give any of the other passengers or driver a reason to say that my dog could be a problem.
I have seen many Mexicans carrying their dogs in their arms.

I've seen people with small dogs on board more than a few times, usually carrying them, and, rarely, medium-sized dogs too, which stayed very quiet underneath their owners at the front seats.

It used to be in MEXICO that even chickens, roosters, pigs, and of course pets, were commonly seen on any 3rd-class bus, including inter-city buses. Always in rural areas, never in major cities. Everything's much more sterilized/Gringo-ized now.

I have been traveling ALL classes of Mexican buses for 27 years. I have yet to see a live Chicken or pig on any of them. Bought a few cooked ones however.
PS Also never seen a dog other than a service animal on any out of town travel buses.

Yep, chickens "puck-puck-pucking", roosters crowing, pigs squealing, ducks quacking on 3rd class buses, traveling around MEX. It was a lotta fun. Dogs were always welcomed. Goats too.
