Indian food? - jesm - 08-19-2012 Can anyone offer a positive heads- up for good Indian food? Leon, or elsewhere within an hour of GTO. Thanks in advance. RE: Indian food? - Heather - 08-19-2012 Hi Jesse, There is a new Indian restaurant in San Miguel - haven't tried it yet but people in SMA sound pretty happy with it on their list. It called Bhaji, is in Cuadrante, phone 152 6439 and is closed Mondays. Cheers, Heather RE: Indian food? - Barbara - 08-19-2012 Any day now there will be Indian food in Baratillo -- in the large building next to the flower shop. The owners told me they are going to have a buffet. For now, there's a small selection of take-out (it's all vegetarian, but not really Indian) -- salads, empanadas, baguettes with lentil or soy spread, pizzas, juices, and desserts. Everything that I have tried so far is very good. If you like Middle Eastern food, I also highly recommend Habibi. They have delicious falafel, hummus, tabouli, stuffed grape leaves, and the best lentil soup I've ever had. They also have homemade desserts, coffee, tea, wine, beer, and really good agua de jamaica and tamarindo. Habibi is across the street from the plaza in front of Teatro Cervantes. If you're walking from the jardin on Campanero, turn left at the corner where they sell aguas and popsicles -- it's the first door on your left. RE: Indian food? - zackate - 08-20-2012 Habibi + info: http://gto.tipz.mx/habibi-guanajuato/ Saludos! RE: Indian food? - cam00 - 08-20-2012 Had two fallafels ordered at Habibi today. The pita bread was stale, the paper wrapping stuck to the sandwich, the fallafels were undercooked, and too much lettuce and only two small pieces of tomato . Not recommended sorry to say. RE: Indian food? - Heather - 08-21-2012 We love Habibi. Julia does a great job. The food is freshly made and very tasty. Even better she is very consistent, always has what is on the menu, staff are helpful, is open when she says she will be, which is most of the time. Good healthy lunch or snack place at a vey reasonable price. It's great to have this Lebanese food available here. And wifi too. Long may she stay. Heather & David RE: Indian food? - DENIS_WWE - 08-22-2012 Hi there, Take a look at http://www.shantisanmiguel.com It is a nice quaint place near San Miguel. I know you were looking for something a little closer but perhaps it is something to think about. I have been to India many times (many years ago) and often reminisce my student days in the curry houses in Manchester... it is a very close second. Alternatively, every second Saturday is "Curry Night" in my house, I'd be happy to forward you a few recipes! :) Hope this helps! Denis. RE: Indian food? - David Austen - 09-20-2012 Just go to the new Indian restaurant in San Miguel, good one.I personally visited there.Like it!!!!! |
